Tesla began deliveries of the Model Y Performance in China after teasing the move earlier this week.

Tesla did not announce the number of first deliveries of the Model Y Performance or other details, although information shared by its Weibo account shows that the first China-made Model Y Performance was delivered to one of its employees.

Separately, according to Weibo car blogger @常岩CY, Tesla used AMD Ryzen that is found on the Model S Plaid as the processor for the infotainment system on the Model Y Performance, instead of the Intel Atom used in other Model Y versions.

Information on Tesla's website shows the Model Y Performance is priced at RMB 387,900 ($60,750) in China, which is RMB 107,148 more than the price of the entry-level Model Y. The price of the latter was raised yesterday by RMB 4,752 to RMB 280,752.

The Model Y Performance can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds, has a top speed of 250 km/h and an NEDC range of 566 km.

Earlier this month, Tesla sold out of available capacity in China this year for the entry-level Model Y. The start of Model Y Performance deliveries will help increase Tesla's sales in China and raise the average selling price.

On November 12, information on Tesla's China website showed that the entry-level Model Y has a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 6.9 seconds, up from 5.6 seconds previously, and delivery is expected in the first quarter of next year.

The Tesla Model Y was the third best-selling new energy vehicle in China in October, following SAIC-GM-Wuling's Hongguang Mini EV and 's Qin Plus DM-i, according to data released earlier this month by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).

The Hongguang Mini EV sold 47,834 units, the Qin Plus DM-i sold 17,393 units and the Model Y sold 13,303 units in October, the CPCA data showed.

Tesla China had 54,391 wholesale sales in October, including 40,666 units exported and 13,725 units sold in China.
