The two-motor, all-wheel drive, Long Range version of the Tesla Model Y has increased its NEDC range from 594 kilometers to 640 kilometers.
Two versions of Tesla's dual-motor all-wheel-drive model sold in China have received a range boost, but the prices remain the same.
Information on Tesla's official website in China shows that the dual-motor all-wheel-drive Long Range version of the Model Y has an increased NEDC range of 640 kilometers, up from 594 kilometers previously, at the same price of RMB 347,900 ($54,000) as before.
The Model Y Performance version has an increased NEDC range of 566 kilometers, up from 554 kilometers, and is priced at RMB 387,900.
The Model Y Standard Range version, priced at RMB 276,000, is unchanged, with an NEDC range of 525 km.
The standard range version of the Model Y is expected to be delivered in 6-10 weeks, and both versions of the dual-motor all-wheel drive are expected to be delivered in the fourth quarter, according to Tesla's official website in China.
Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory is now producing 1,600 Model Ys per day, a significant increase from last month, according to Sina's report at the end of last month.
For comparison, Tesla's Shanghai plant produced 1,000 Model Ys per day in August, which also far exceeds the Model 3's daily average of 800 units.
Data released last month by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) showed that the Model Y sold 11,576 units in August, trailing only the Hongguang Mini EV's 32,847 units and the BYD Qin Plus DM-i's 12,574 units.
That figure includes the top 15 selling models in China in August, with the Model 3 not being included.
However, the CPCA data showed that Tesla China's wholesale sales in August reached a record 44,264 units, including 31,379 units exported.
That means Tesla China's August sales were 12,885 units, which also means China-made Model 3 sales were 1,309, the lowest since the model began deliveries last January.
Tesla currently produces the Model 3 and Model Y in its Shanghai Gigafactory, and they supply not only the Chinese market but also overseas markets.
