The U5 is designed for the Israeli market with a "sandwich" structure battery pack that maintains optimal battery performance in harsh temperature conditions with an efficient thermal management system, according to the company.

The U5 has a WLTP range of 410km and a 100km energy consumption of 13.8kWh. It is equipped with a triple permanent magnet synchronous motor with a maximum power of 150kW and a peak torque of 310N-m.

The U5 is equipped with the EyeQ4 autonomous driving chip provided by Israeli technology company Mobileye, with AI-Pilot intelligent driving as well as AI-Parking intelligent parking system.

Aiways was founded in 2017 with the goal of becoming an international new energy smart car company.

As of July 2021, Aiways exported 2,663 units overseas. After France, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark and Israel, Aiways will continue to expand its overseas market coverage area and further expand its market in Southern Europe and EFTA countries.

Aiways announced in May that its first battery swap station and Aiways U5 model with battery swap support were put into trial operation.

It is worth noting that Aiways' battery swap station is currently only for the cab market, and the company has no plans to open it up to the general public.

Aiways said its business model is to sell battery swap-enabled models to corporate customers for the cab market, and charging-only models to individual consumers.

In April this year, it has entered into a partnership with BluePark Smart Energy for the development of battery swap models, research and development of battery swap technology, and production and sales of swap station equipment.

Aiways expects to launch at least 20,000 battery swap-enabled models and build at least 200 battery swap stations in 17 cities in the next three years.
