In the long run, China would be the biggest market for Tesla, Elon Musk, CEO of the US electric car company, said in a CCTV interview published Tuesday.
Given that China would expand domestic demand, it would be the place where Tesla would produce the most vehicles and have the most customers, he said.
Musk said he was impressed by China's commitment to a low-carbon and sustainable energy economy.
According to the Chinese government's 14th Five-Year Plan, China's carbon emissions will peak by 2030 and the country will have a sustainable energy economy by 2060.
These are progressive, great goals, Musk said, adding that he hopes more countries will set them as well.
In response to the 14th Five-Year Plan, Musk said he is very confident in the future of China, which is becoming the world's largest economy.
