Huawei Hicar began working with BAIC BluePark New Energy on January 28 last year, and they will launch the first model in the first half of 2021, according to Chinastarmarket.cn.
Huawei will undertake the development of software systems, ICT technology, and cloud computing in the new model, the report said.
The report sent shares of BAIC BluePark, which trades in Shanghai, up by the 10 percent daily limit.
On December 21, Huawei announced its automotive-grade high-performance LiDAR product and solution. It is a 96-line medium-long range LiDAR that can achieve urban pedestrian vehicle detection coverage and both high-speed vehicle detection capability, which is more in line with China's complex road scenarios.

On the same day, spy photos of BAIC BluePark New Energy ARCFOX HBT equipped with 3 Huawei LiDARs were also circulated among Chinese internet users.
The ARCFOX HBT is a new high-performance intelligent electric vehicle created by BAIC BluePark New Energy ARCFOX and Huawei, equipped with three 96-lane automotive-grade LiDARs, six millimeter wave radars, 12 cameras, and 13 ultrasonic radars.
The vehicle is also equipped with a Huawei chip with an arithmetic power of 352Tops.
