Volkswagen Group, the world's largest automaker, has begun a full-scale push into the world's largest market for new energy vehicles.
On November 3, the much-anticipated FAW-VW ID.4 CROZZ electric car was officially unveiled to Chinese consumers in Shenzhen.
The ID.4 is Volkswagen Group's first all-electric global model based on the MEB platform, and is the model on which the entire Volkswagen Group has high hopes.
At the press conference, Volkswagen Group (China) CEO Stephan Wöllenstein said that by 2023, Volkswagen plans to launch eight models of the ID.family. With the ID.family of models, Volkswagen hopes to become the preferred brand for new energy vehicles in China.
Dong Xiuhui, FAW-Volkswagen's general manager of sales, announced at the press conference that the ID.4 CROZZ is open for pre-order and will be priced at no more than RMB 250,000 after subsidies, which is comparable to the price of the China-made Tesla Model 3 entry-level version.
The ID.4 CROZZ has a range of 550km as a standard all-electric SUV, with a standard EV-standard closed front face, a closable lower grille, and a combination of low rolling resistance tires and hidden door handles that deliver a 0.28cd drag coefficient.
Its front and rear VW logos are illuminable LEDs, with the original chrome trim on the exterior heavily replaced with LEDs.
As the driver approaches the ID.4 CROZZ, the lights are automatically combined into a "welcome mode", with the headlights turned towards the driver and the LED strips flashing continuously.
In terms of dimensions, the ID.4 CROZZ is 4592mm*1852mm*1629mm in length, width and height, with a wheelbase of 2765mm, making it a mid-sized SUV in terms of space.
As an all-electric SUV, the intelligent cabin will be one of the ID.4 CROZZ's most important competencies.
"Big" is just one of the ID.4 CROZZ's features in terms of space.
The model is equipped with 100% privacy glass, so that people will have better privacy when alone in the car. The model is also equipped with an oversized panoramic canopy with extra-large, high-thickness tempered glass that not only improves the sense of space inside the car, but also improves the safety and quietness of the roof, as well as significantly improving the occupants' feeling of space inside the car.
Previously, Volkswagen said the ID.4 will account for one-third of the Volkswagen passenger car brand's 1.5 million annual sales by 2025.
