The China-made Model Y will begin rolling off the production line at the Shanghai Gigafactory in early 2021, cls.cn cited an unnamed executive as saying on August 20.

The Model Y, Tesla's second SUV, was released in March of last year. Its deliveries were initially not scheduled to begin until the fall of 2020, but thanks to a revamped production line and a smooth climb, deliveries in the US began in late March of this year, ahead of schedule.

Tesla has yet to announce the price of the China-built Model Y and the assembly line for the car is still under construction at its Gigafactory in Shanghai.
