Chinese EV maker Nio said today that the Nio EC6 starts at 368,000 yuan ($52,500) before subsidies and deliveries are expected to begin in the second half of September.
The car offers six price options with the highest-end model priced at 526,000 yuan before subsidies, the company said at the 2020 Chengdu Auto show.
Pre-order for the EC6 starts today. Customers who pay a deposit of 20,000 yuan for the Nio EC6 between July 24 and August 24 will receive a gift box containing random gifts.
These random gifts include Nio Life products, exclusive Nio experiences, and an opportunity to dine with Nio founder Li Bin at a Michelin restaurant.
Last December at Nio Day, Li Bin unveiled the EC6, Nio's third model after the ES8 and ES6.
The first pre-production model of the Nio EC6 rolled off the production line last month.
The car is powered by a 100 kWh battery pack and has a range of 615 km.
The EC6 has a slide-back design with a low drag coefficient of 0.27Cd, making it the lowest drag in the Nio SUV product family.
The Nio EC6's direct competitor will be the Tesla Model Y.
At present, Tesla is building its Shanghai Gigafactory phase 2 which is for the Model Y. The expected price for the Model Y is divided into a rear-drive version of long battery range for 444,000 yuan, dual-motor all-wheel-drive long range version for 488,000 yuan, and dual-motor all-wheel-drive high performance version for 535,000 yuan.
However, with the localization of the domestic Tesla Model Y components increasing, the price of Model Y is expected by local analysts to drop to less than 400,000 yuan in the future.
