A total of 14,976 China-made Model 3s were registered in China in June, an increase of 32 percent over the same period of last year, according to autoinfo.org.cn.

In May, 11,364 China-made Model 3s were registered. This is an increase of 173.63 percent from the previous month's 4,153 units.

Tesla currently produces the domestically-built Model 3 at its Gigafactory in Shanghai, primarily for the Chinese market.

Production of the Chinese-made Model 3 officially started in January this year after a trial run at the end of 2019.

Since the first delivery in January, the domestically produced Model 3 has been one of the most popular cars in China.

Previously, the China Passenger Car Association's data showed that Tesla sold 14,954 China-made vehicles in China in June, up 35 percent from May's 11,095 units.
