Chinese car maker BYD says it can make 50 million masks a day

Li Wei, director of BYD's President's Office and secretary-general of the BYD Charity Foundation, said yesterday that at present, BYD's daily production of masks reaches 50 million, according to Shenzhen Business Daily.

BYD is also expanding production at a rate of 1 million to 3 million masks per day, and BYD is expected to export more than 1 billion masks by the end of May.

In mid-April, Reuters reported that SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son said he would supply 300 million masks per month to Japan starting in May, following a deal with Chinese electric car maker BYD.

At the time, a BYD spokesperson said that BYD's capacity reached 15 million masks per day.

In March this year, BYD's mask production line and disinfection gel production line achieved daily capacity of 5 million and 300,000 bottles, respectively. BYD also became the world's largest mass production mask factory at the time.
