On January 7 this year, at the delivery ceremony of the China-made Model 3 at the Shanghai Gigafactory, Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced the official launch of the China-made Model Y project.

Musk said the Model Y aims to build an SUV that everyone can afford, while the previously launched Model 3 is dedicated to building a family sedan that everyone can afford.

The Tesla Model Y is currently available as an import with a starting price of 488,000 yuan in China, and is available in a rear-drive long range version (444,000 yuan), dual-motor all-wheel drive long range version (488,000 yuan), and dual-motor all-wheel drive performance version (535,000 yuan).

In terms of power and range, the Model Y WLTP has a working range of 505km for the long-range version and 480km for the high performance version, with a 100km acceleration time of 3.7 seconds. In terms of power and body dimensions, the Model Y can be seen as the SUV version of the Model 3.

In addition, there are recent media reports, Tesla and CATL has also begun to cooperate in the battery, China-made Model Y will use CATL battery, as one of the most expensive parts of electric vehicles, battery China-made, is expected to drive down the price of the whole car further.
