Construction at Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory is currently on a larger scale than disclosed in the company's Q3 and Q4 earnings reports last year.

The area under construction is much larger in terms of size than the already completed Model 3 building, but the building where the Model 3 building is located is also still under construction.

From the pictures Tesla revealed in its earnings report, Shanghai Gigafactory currently has four steel structures under construction, most of which are already in shape.

In the larger area near the Model 3 production facility, half of the steel structure has been erected.

The other three smaller sites are not yet linked together, so it is unclear whether they will be three separate buildings or will eventually be linked together. But all three are on the same horizontal line, with the possibility of joining together to form a whole building.

While Tesla's earnings report noted a future Model Y factory, it's unclear which one will be used to produce the Model Y because of the larger number of plants currently being built.

But Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory is planned to produce the Model 3, Model Y and future models, and the Model Y's production facility is likely to be the one near the Model 3 factory, the one with the largest steel structure and the one near the two already built factories.

Also from the pictures released in Tesla's earnings report, construction has started on all the land inside Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory.

There are no more large open areas where construction has not started, the side of the road outside the plant is close to the plant, the river is being dug, and a bridge connecting the plant to the road outside the plant has been built.
