On April 28 at 3pm, Tesla stared its 7th Taobao live broadcast event, where Wei Ya, a Chinese celebrity sales anchor on the Taobao platform, was invited.
Nearly 4 million people watched the event, which is seen as the most fashionable way for product promotion in China, in one hour. A total of 2,600 people placed orders for test-drive Tesla cars.
In between broadcasts, Wei Ya showcased the Model S, Model X and Model 3 models, exterior, interior and performance.
Tesla doesn't offer any discounts on purchases like other cars on the air, but instead sells the Model 3/X/S for a "test drive for 1 yuan" and the same T-shirt as Musk.
On April 16, Tesla announced the official opening of its flagship store on Tmall, where consumers can make reservations to test drive Model S, Model X and Model 3 models, as well as purchase Model 3 physical keys, home charging installation kits and other original Tesla accessories and localized boutique peripherals.
