Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) has officially unveiled the new P7 in China, after the flagship sedan was launched in Europe a month ago.

The P7 facelift is officially named the P7i in China, similar to the Xpeng G3's facelift G3i.

Xpeng announced the information today on its official WeChat account and shared several images showing its exterior and some of its interior design.

The company did not announce the P7i's specifications or pricing information, saying only that the model will be officially launched in China soon. Some local media reports said the P7i is expected to be officially available in a few days.

CnEVPost got an early look at the model in late January and learned from an event at the time that the P7i will have a LiDAR option.

The P7i's LiDARs will be set near the headlights like Xpeng's flagship SUV, the G9, and the supplier is RoboSense like the G9's.

The Xpeng P7i will continue to be built on the regular 400 V platform, rather than the 800 V high-voltage platform used in the G9. However, the P7i's maximum charging power has been increased to 175 kW from its predecessor's 90 kW.

The P7i's 0-100 km/h acceleration time has been improved from 6.7 seconds to 6.4 seconds for the two-wheel drive version and from 4.3 seconds to 3.9 seconds for the four-wheel drive version.

The new sedan will be equipped with two Nvidia Orin X chips, like the G9, while the chip powering the in-car infotainment system has been upgraded from the P7's Qualcomm Snapdragon 820A chip to the Snapdragon SA8155P.

Prior to its unveiling in China, the new P7 was launched in Europe last month, albeit without the P7i name.

Xpeng announced the launch of the G9 SUV and the new P7 to the European market on February 3.

The new P7 has been optimized for a maximum charging power of 175 kW and fast charging from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 29 minutes, Xpeng said at the time.

Deliveries of the new P7 in Europe will begin in June, and deliveries of the G9 there are expected to begin in September.

Xpeng did not announce when deliveries of the P7i are expected to begin in China, where the model is critical to boosting its sales.

The company's deliveries saw a significant decline in the second half of last year and recovered to just 6,010 units in February, down from 6,225 a year earlier.

The P7 sedan was Xpeng's main seller for a long time, selling 59,066 units in 2022, contributing 49 percent of Xpeng's annual sales of 120,757 units, data monitored by CnEVPost showed.

Some local media reported last week that Xpeng is offering big discounts on older P7s to speed up inventory clearance and make way for the sedan's facelift to hit the market.
