The EQS SUV is the latest offering from Mercedes-Benz in China, where it has previously released several all-electric models that have had lukewarm sales.

Mercedes-Benz is bringing its EQS SUV to China, though its high price tag means sales won't have much to look forward to.
The German luxury carmaker made the EQS SUV officially available in China yesterday with a starting price of RMB 910,500 ($132,020).
The vehicle is an all-electric large SUV based on Mercedes' EVA platform and is its first SUV based on the platform.
The Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV measures 5,137 mm in length, 1,965 mm in width and 1,721 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 3,210 mm.
The vehicle is currently offered in three versions, two of which start at RMB 910,500 and the other at RMB 1,100,500.
The lower-priced two models are offered in single- and dual-motor versions with peak torques of 568 Nm and 800 Nm, respectively, although they both have a peak power of 265 kW.
These two versions take 6.9 seconds and 6.2 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h, respectively.
The higher-priced version of the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV also has a peak motor power of 265 kW and a peak torque of 800 Nm, and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds.
All three versions are equipped with a battery pack with a capacity of 111.8 kWh, which supports a maximum charging power of 145 kW and can be charged from 10 percent to 80 percent in 37 minutes.
The CLTC ranges for these three models are 742 km, 673 km and 670 km respectively.
Chinese consumers can currently only buy the imported version of the model. However, according to a report yesterday by local automotive media Auto Home, Mercedes-Benz said that the EQE SUV will soon be produced in China.
The Maybach EQS SUV will also make its global debut at the Shanghai auto show in April, according to the report.
The EQS SUV is the latest offering from Mercedes-Benz in China, where the automaker has previously released a number of pure electric models, but sales have been lukewarm.
The Mercedes-Benz brand's first EV is the EQC, which went on sale in China in November 2019, when it was priced in the RMB 499,800-5798,000 range, well above the price range of the Nio SUV models and Tesla Model Y.
In early 2022, dozens of Mercedes-Benz EQC owners released a joint statement complaining about the model's motor problems. Mercedes-Benz subsequently initiated a recall for the model.
The Mercedes-Benz EQC is currently being offered at Chinese dealers for a starting price of around RMB 300,000.
After the EQC, Mercedes-Benz also introduced sedans including the EQS and EQE, and SUVs, including the EQA and EQB, to the Chinese market.
These models do not seem to have achieved satisfactory results in China. On November 15, 2022, Mercedes-Benz announced a reduction of up to RMB 237,600 in the suggested retail prices of some EQ series models.
