Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) launched the G9 and the new P7 in Europe earlier this month, but the latter is not yet available in China. The latest information suggests that the revamped version of the sedan may have a new name in China.
The new Xpeng P7 to be launched in China could be named P7i, similar to the Xpeng G3i, local auto media Dongchedi said in a report yesterday.
The new Xpeng P7 was launched in Europe on February 3, and the model is expected to be officially launched in China in March, the report noted.

On February 3, Xpeng announced the launch of its two latest electric vehicles to the European market, the G9 flagship SUV and the new P7 sports sedan.
Both models were on display at the eCar Expo in Stockholm from February 3 to 5, and were available for order by consumers in Denmark, Norway, the Netherlands and Sweden.
Xpeng has not announced a launch date for the new P7 in China, though CnEVPost learned from a source earlier this month that this is expected to be in March.
The new Xpeng P7 appeared on a regulatory filing list in China last November, though the model still carried the name Xpeng P7 on its rear end at the time.
These declarations show that the model does not differ much from the current model in terms of appearance, with the most significant change being the availability of the LiDAR option.
Xpeng's other sedan, the P5, is its first model to offer the LiDAR option, and the flagship SUV, the G9, is the second. Like them, the new P7's LiDARs will be placed near the headlights.
Notably, the new P7 offered by Xpeng in Europe does not offer a LiDAR option.
In addition, the new Xpeng P7 will have improved performance with front and rear motors with peak power of 145 kW and 203 kW, respectively. The currently available dual-motor versions of the P7 have front and rear motors with peak power of 120 kW and 196 kW, respectively.
If Xpeng eventually uses the P7i nomenclature for the new P7 in China, it would mean that the company will continue what it did with the first model, the G3.
On July 9, 2021, Xpeng's G3 facelift, the G3i, went on sale with the same power as the G3, but with a more powerful assisted driving system and more color options.
