Nio (NYSE: NIO) has reached 10 battery swap stations in Europe, marking a small but important step in building its signature replenishment facility in international markets.

The battery swap station, which went live in the Netherlands on December 29, is Nio's third in the country, the company announced today on its mobile app.

The station is located in the Hogenhoorn 1 parking lot in the southern Dutch town of Denhollen, next to the A4 freeway to The Hague, and will serve both local customers and those traveling between the capital Amsterdam and Rotterdam, the country's second-largest city.

On January 19, 2022, Nio's first battery swap station in Norway went online, marking the start of layout of the company's charging and battery swap infrastructure in Europe.

On September 16, Nio Power Europe Plant in Budapest, Hungary, saw the first battery swap station roll off the production line, which was shipped to Germany.

With the support of the plant, Nio has started to accelerate its replenishment infrastructure in Europe and now has battery swap stations in Germany, Sweden and the Netherlands.

In addition to the 10 battery swap stations already online, Nio has seven new stations that will soon be in operation in Europe, according to the company.

Nio plans to have a cumulative total of 120 battery swap stations in Europe by the end of 2023, the company said on its app, repeating its previous goal.

Nio introduced the ET7, EL7 and ET5 to European consumers at the Nio Berlin launch event on October 7 European time. The EL7 is known as the ES7 in China.

Unlike its direct sales of vehicles in China and Norway, Nio initially offered a service it called Nio Subscription in Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark and Sweden, which only allowed local consumers to lease vehicles, not buy them.

On November 21, Nio began offering purchase options in those countries as well, with deliveries of cars purchased under that option to begin in 2023.

In China, where Nio had 1,294 battery swap stations as of December 30, it aims to have more than 1,300 stations by the end of the year.

At the Nio Day 2022 event on December 24, William Li, the company's founder, chairman and CEO, announced that Nio aims to have more than 1,700 battery swap stations in China by the end of 2023, meaning it will add more than 400 new stations in 2023.
