In a new change to the expected delivery date information for vehicles shown by the Nio (NYSE: NIO) App, the wait time for the ES7, currently the only Nio SUV based on the NT 2.0 platform, has been shortened.

The Nio ES7 now has an expected delivery date of 2-3 weeks after consumers lock in their orders, down from the previous 4-6 weeks, information from the Nio App monitored by CnEVPost shows.

Nio currently sells six models in China, including three models based on the NT 1.0 platform -- ES8, ES6 and EC6 -- and three models based on the NT 2.0 platform -- ES7, ET7 and ET5.

The current wait time for Nio ET7 is 2-3 weeks and ET5 is 12-14 weeks, the same as before.

The wait time for the Nio ES6 is still about 2 weeks, and the wait times for the ES8 and EC6 are still not being shown.

Nio will hold Nio Day 2022 on December 24, and the company's management previously hinted that two models will be launched at that time, one of which is the ES8 based on the NT 2.0 platform, and the other is a very stylish model.

Although there are limited hints about the other new model, recent information suggests it could be the EC7 coupe SUV to replace the EC6.

Nio's guidance for fourth-quarter deliveries was 43,000 to 48,000 units when it announced its third-quarter earnings last month. It delivered 10,059 and 14,178 vehicles in October and November, respectively, and the guidance means it would have to deliver at least 18,763 units in December to reach the lower end of the guidance range.

Notably, Nio saw its 300,000th production vehicle roll off the line on December 12. The company's co-founder and president Qin Lihong said at an event later in the day that delivery of Nio's 300,000th vehicle is expected to be around January 1.

Considering that Nio's cumulative deliveries reached 273,741 units as of November 30, that means the company is on track to deliver about 26,000 units in December.

Data earlier this month showed that Nio vehicles registered 3,141 insurance units for the week of November 28 to December 4 and 2,982 for the week of December 5 to December 11.

Nio will need to see a significant uptick in insurance registrations in the coming weeks if it is to meet its management's expected December delivery target.
