Nio vehicles registered 3,759 insurance units in the fourth week of November, compared to 2,852, 3,124 and 3,325 units in the previous three weeks.
China's new energy vehicle (NEV) sales, as measured by insurance registrations, declined in the fourth week of November, although the performance of major electric vehicle (EV) makers remained basically stable.
Between November 21 and 27, sales of NEVs in China were 122,000 units, up 29.1 percent year-on-year but down 5.7 percent from the previous week, figures shared by auto blogger Zhu Yulong on Weibo today show.
Sales of all passenger cars in China were 365,000 units the week, down 19.1 percent year-on-year and down 8.8 percent from the previous week.
Among them, sales of traditional internal combustion engine vehicles were dismal, with 243,000 units sold in that week, down 32 percent year-on-year and down 10 percent from the previous week.
From November 21-27, BYD and Tesla had the highest number of new energy passenger vehicle insurance registrations, at 38,480 and 16,121 units, respectively, according to figures shared by Zhu.
In the first three weeks of the month, that number was 37,168, 40,721 and 44,874 for BYD and 11,195, 13,939 and 14,366 for Tesla, respectively.
Nio vehicles had 3,759 insurance registrations in the fourth week of November, compared to 2,852, 3,124, and 3,325 in the first three weeks.
For Nio, its NT 2.0 platform-based models contributed major sales, with 4,175 units of ES7, 3,346 units of ET7 and 2,637 units of ET5 in the first four weeks of November, according to the blogger. The other three NT 1.0 platform-based models -- ES8, ES6 and EC6 were 566, 1,908 and 456 units, respectively.
Li Auto was 4,364 for the week, compared to 2,224, 3,154, and 3,023 for the previous three weeks.
Xpeng was 1,466 units for the week, compared to 1,115, 1,107, and 1,173 units for the previous three weeks.
This means that in the first four weeks of November, BYD and Tesla vehicles had 161,243 and 55,621 insurance registrations, respectively. The figures were 13,060, 12,765 and 4,861 for Nio, Li Auto and Xpeng, respectively.
The fourth-week numbers were first shared earlier today by Sun Shaojun, founder of automotive consumer platform Che Fans, and are the same as the vast majority of numbers shared by Zhu, except for a few slight differences.
