A spy shot shows Nio testing what is suspected to be the ES5. In addition, more spy photos of the so-called EC7 reveal new details.
As the new Nio Day event gets closer, more spy photos of Nio's new models are starting to circulate on social media.
A car blogger today shared a picture of what appears to be Nio's new SUV undergoing road tests, showing that the model is different from the company's current models.
The Nio ES5 is coming soon, and it will be the Nio version of the BMW X3, or the SUV version of the ET5, auto blogger @飞要说车 said today on Weibo.
The image shared by the blogger shows that the model appears to be smaller in size than any of Nio's current SUVs.
Yesterday evening, another auto blogger @碳粉说电池不胖 shared the same image, but he speculated that the model could be the new ES6.
Nio currently sells six models in China, including three models based on the NT 1.0 platform -- the ES8, ES6 and EC6 -- and three models based on the NT 2.0 platform -- the ES7, ET7 and ET5.
The company is expected to transition its NT 1.0-based models to the NT 2.0 platform in 2023 to give them an even more intelligent cockpit as well as assisted driving capabilities.
NT 1.0-based models do not come with LiDAR, while NT 2.0-based models come standard with LiDAR and have a Nio Adam supercomputer based on four Orin SoCs with a total computing power of 1,016 TOPS.
In addition to the above model, another blogger, @德卤爱开车, today shared several images of what is allegedly spy shots of the EC7.
The model has a front design similar to the ES7, and its interior features a similar style to the existing NT 2.0 platform models, according to the blogger.
It also has a slinky rear end shape with an electric rear wing, the blogger noted.
On October 10, local automotive media Xchuxing posted a spy photo of what is suspected to be the Nio EC7 on road test, saying that the model will be a coupe SUV that may feature the electric rear wing that Nio had previously patented.
The model is tightly wrapped in camouflage, though smooth body lines with a coupe-style can be seen, the report notes.
