BYD will launch several new energy vehicle (NEV) models for the European market this fall to meet the diverse needs of local consumers, the company said Friday.

The upcoming models from China's largest NEV maker in Europe include the BYD Tang, Han, and the Yuan Plus, which will be locally named Atto 3, according to the company.

BYD provided product highlights of these models for European consumers, saying detailed specifications and pricing will be announced close to the official launch.

BYD has entered into strategic partnerships with a number of leading European passenger car dealers to offer products and services to consumers.

Several offline BYD dealership stores will open in the fall, and the first vehicles are expected to begin deliveries in the fourth quarter, BYD said.

Moreover, BYD will also participate in the Paris Motor Show, it said.

BYD announced on July 27 that it will participate in the Paris Motor Show, which will be held in late October, and make its new energy passenger vehicle product matrix available in Europe.

BYD's new energy passenger car offerings are expected to go on sale and be delivered in Europe in the fourth quarter, the company said, but did not disclose at the time exactly which models.

"The BYD Tang was launched to a pilot market in Norway in August 2021. In July 2022, the BYD Tang ranked 2nd best-selling SUV-E in Norway. With more models to offer, BYD is now ready for Europe," said Michael Shu, general manager and managing director, BYD Europe and International Cooperation Division.

BYD established its European branch in the Netherlands in 1998, its first overseas branch.

Twenty-four years later, BYD has expanded its European operations to include solar energy, energy storage, electric buses, trucks and forklifts, operating in more than 20 countries and over 100 cities across Europe, according to the company.

Earlier this month, BYD announced several partnerships in Europe.

On August 1, BYD announced a partnership with European dealer group Hedin Mobility to provide NEV products for the Swedish and German markets.

In October, a number of pioneering stores in Sweden and Germany will be officially opened, and more stores will come online in several cities. By then, consumers will be able to experience BYD's NEV products up close, with the first vehicles expected to be delivered in the fourth quarter.

On August 16, BYD announced that it has appointed Nic Christiansen Group as the national distributor for its electric passenger vehicles in Denmark.

The first BYD store will open in Copenhagen this fall, where customers will be able to experience and test drive BYD models, BYD said.

In addition to BYD, its local counterpart is also beginning to ramp up its expansion efforts in Europe. But unlike BYD, which relies on dealerships, Nio wants to bring its entire service system from China there.

In the fourth quarter, Nio will hold its first local Nio Day event in Europe, local media outlet Ddxq.tech said Friday, citing the electric vehicle maker's co-founder and president Qin Lihong.

Nio has started to enter the European market at a certain scale, and will certainly face many challenges in the process, but there is a possibility that it will be able to gain a leading position, Qin said.
