Huawei's Richard Yu announced Wednesday that the AITO M5 EV is now available for pre-order at AITO as well as through Huawei's channels.

AITO, the car brand jointly created by Huawei and Seres, began delivering its first model, the AITO M5 SUV, in March, but at that time only in a version with extended-range technology. Now, an all-electric version of the model is also available for pre-order.
AITO's first all-electric model, the AITO M5 EV, is now available for pre-order, with an official launch date set for September, Richard Yu, Huawei's managing director and CEO of its smart vehicle solutions business unit, said Wednesday.
Yu revealed the plan at Huawei's HarmonyOS 3 and new product launch on Wednesday evening, saying consumers can pre-order the AITO M5 EV through AITO's website and Huawei's online store.
AITO is a premium car brand launched by Seres and Huawei on December 2 last year. On December 23 last year, Yu unveiled the AITO M5, which features extended-range technology similar to Li Auto's Li ONE and the Li L9.
The AITO M5 is equipped with the Huawei DriveONE drive system, including a 1.5T four-cylinder range extender and a combination of asynchronous AC motors and permanent magnet synchronous motors.
AITO delivered 7,021 AITO M5 vehicles in June, up 40.25 percent from 5,006 in May, it announced on July 1.
From the start of deliveries in March to the end of June, cumulative deliveries of the AITO M5 reached 18,317 units, according to data monitored by CnEVPost.
Consumers can currently reserve the AITO M5 EV by paying RMB 1,000 ($150), the exact price of which is currently unknown. For reference, the extended-range version of the model currently has a post-subsidy price range of RMB 259,800 to RMB 331,800.
The AITO M5 EV is basically the same design as the extended-range model, except for the closed grille at the front, which is commonly used in EV models.
The length, width and height of the AITO M5 EV are 4,785 mm, 1,930 mm and 1,620 mm respectively, with a wheelbase of 2,880 mm, as shown in the previous regulatory filings.
The model will be available in four-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive versions, with the four-wheel drive version having a front motor with a maximum power of 165 kW and a maximum torque of 315Nm and a rear motor with a maximum power of 200 kW and a maximum torque of 360Nm.
The rear-wheel drive version has a maximum motor power of 200 kW and a maximum torque of 360Nm.
Each version of the AITO M5 EV is equipped with a lithium iron phosphate battery pack with a capacity of 79.927 kWh and a combined range of 500 km for the four-wheel drive version and 540 km for the rear-wheel drive version.
In addition to the AITO M5, Huawei's Yu unveiled AITO's new SUV, the AITO M7, a large new energy SUV that also uses extended-range technology, at a previous event on July 4.
AITO is offering three versions of the M7 with starting prices of RMB 319,800, 339,800 and 379,800 respectively.
This price range makes the AITO M7 a competitor to Li Auto's Li ONE, which has a flat retail price of RMB 349,800.
The AITO M7 has a length, width and height of 5,020 mm, 1,945 mm and 1,775 mm, respectively, and a wheelbase of 2,820 mm.
For comparison, the Li ONE has a length, width and height of 5,030 mm, 1,960 mm and 1,760 mm respectively, and a wheelbase of 2,935 mm.
