Chinese electric vehicle company Hozon Auto's Neta brand has set a launch date for its flagship sedan, the Neta S, after it went on pre-sale in early June.

The Neta S will go on sale on July 31, Hozon CEO Zhang Yong said on Weibo today.

The model measures 4,980 mm in length, 1,980 mm in width and 1,450 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,980 mm, slightly larger than Motors' flagship sedan, the P7, which measures 4,880 mm in length, 1,896 mm in width and 1,450 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,998 mm.

The Neta S has a maximum power of 170 kW for the single-motor version and 170 kW for both motors in the dual-motor version.

The Neta S is available in five versions: a limited edition, an extended-range version with a combined range of 1,100 km, a LiDAR version with a range of 715 km, a regular version with a range of 715 km, a 4WD version with a range of 650 km and a regular version with a range of 520 km.

Neta began pre-sales for the Neta S on June 6, with a limited-edition pre-sale price of RMB 338,800 ($50,380), entering what is considered a premium car market in China.

As a comparison, Neta's other two models currently on sale - Neta V and Neta U - start at RMB 74,900 and RMB 117,800 respectively.

The Neta S's limited edition is basically the same as the regular model in terms of appearance, but features a scissor door design similar to Xpeng Motors' P7 Wing Edition.

The Neta S's limited edition is equipped with dual electric motors with a maximum power of 340 kW and a maximum torque of 600Nm, and an acceleration time of 3.9 seconds from 0-100 km/h.

When using the dedicated fast-charging pile, the Neta S can reach up to 240 kW of charging power, thus replenishing 80 percent of its power in 20 minutes.

As of June 21, the Neta S received 5,216 pre-orders, including 683 orders for the 999-unit limited edition and 4,533 orders for other versions, the company previously announced.

Notably, prices for the Neta S are currently being announced for the limited edition only, and its delivery is expected to begin in the fourth quarter. Pricing for other versions is unknown and the company previously said it would be announced in July.

Neta delivered 13,157 units in June, up 19.51 percent from 11,009 units in May and 156.07 percent from 5,138 units a year earlier, data released earlier this month showed.

From January to June, Neta's cumulative deliveries were 63,131 units, up 199.14 percent from 21,104 units in the same period last year.
