Yuan Plus, the first SUV from BYD's all-electric e-platform 3.0, has been brought to Singapore, following the model's launch in China in late February.

Named Atto 3 in Singapore, the model's launch in the Southeast Asian country marks its debut in the ASEAN region, BYD said today.

The Atto's naming is inspired by the Attosecond, the smallest unit of time scale in physics, BYD said, adding that the Atto 3 kicks off a new journey for BYD's passenger car business in Singapore.

"BYD has entered the Singapore market for nearly 10 years and offered new energy vehicles like taxis, buses, trucks, and forklifts there. Today, we are honored to bring Atto 3 to Singapore. In the future, we will introduce more high-quality models to constantly empower this ‘garden city'," said Liu Xueliang, General Manager of BYD Asia-Pacific Auto Sales Division.

Taking Singapore as one of the key markets, BYD will gradually enter Southeast Asia and provide more environmentally friendly models for the local area, Liu added.

On February 19, BYD officially launched the Yuan Plus in China, the first SUV on the company's all-electric e-platform 3.0 and its first model built for the global market.

Along with its launch in China, it is also open for pre-sale in Australia under the Atto 3 name.

The model's exterior features the same new Dragon Face 3.0 design language that it uses for its flagship sedan Han.

It measures 4,455 mm in length, 1,875 mm in width and 1,615 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,720 mm. Getting the largest possible wheelbase on a fixed body length is an advantage of e-platform 3.0.

The car's interior features a rotatable center screen as well as a smaller instrument screen.

The BYD Yuan Plus sold in China has a drive motor with a peak power of 150 kW and a peak torque of 310 Nm, with an acceleration time of 7.3 seconds from 0-100 km/h.

The model is powered by a blade battery with lithium iron phosphate chemistry with an energy density of 150 Wh/kg and is available in two range versions.

It has a combined CLTC range of 430 km with a 49.92 kWh battery pack and 510 km with a 60.48 kWh battery pack.

The BYD Yuan Plus is currently available in five versions in China, priced from RMB 137,800 ($20,590) to RMB 165,800 after subsidies.

BYD did not mention the model's price in Singapore in today's press release, and its official website indicates that local consumers can reserve it for $50.

In April, the Yuan Plus was also launched in Macau under the Atto 3 name.

BYD sold 134,036 new energy vehicles (NEVs) in June, its fourth consecutive month of more than 100,000 units and a 224.02 percent year-on-year increase, data it released earlier this month showed.

The Yuan family - which includes the Yuan Plus, Yuan Pro and Yuan EV - sold 19,731 units in June, up 47.99 percent from 13,333 units in May. Cumulative sales for the series have reached 300,000 units since its launch.
