Chinese homegrown premium electric vehicle brand HiPhi sold 459 HiPhi X units in March, the only model it currently sells, up 29 percent from 355 units in February, data released by the company showed Tuesday.

HiPhi, a brand owned by Human Horizons, launched the HiPhi X in October 2020, with deliveries of the model officially starting in May 2021.

The company did not announce sales for May and June last year, and previous data showed it had accumulated 3,724 units from July to December last year.

On January 19, HiPhi announced that it saw the 5,000th production vehicle of the HiPhi X roll off the production line.

The HiPhi X starts at RMB 570,000 ($90,000) for the six-seat version and up to RMB 800,000 for the four-seat version.

HiPhi's average transaction price in March was nearly RMB 700,000, it said on Tuesday.

In the luxury all-electric market, where prices are higher than RMB 500,000, HiPhi sold 26 percent more than the second-place model in March, it said.

In that segment, HiPhi sold 1,364 units in the first quarter, giving it a 28 percent market share, it said.

A chart released by HiPhi showed that based on insurance registration data, the Mercedes-Benz EQC sold 364 units in China in March, the Porsche Taycan 266, the Mercedes-Benz EQS 141, the BMW iX 139 and the Audi e-tron 116.
