LFP batteries lead ternary batteries in China for the ninth consecutive month.

China's power battery installations in March were 21.4 GWh, up 138 percent year-on-year and up 56.6 percent from February, according to data released today by the China Automotive Battery Innovation Alliance (CABIA).

Ternary batteries installed in March were 8.2 GWh, accounting for 38.3 percent of the total installed base, up 61.2 percent year-on-year and up 40.5 percent from February.

Lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery installed volume was 13.2 GWh, accounting for 61.6 percent of the total installed volume, up 238.8 percent year-on-year and 69.4 percent from February.

This is the ninth consecutive month that LFP batteries have been installed ahead of ternary batteries in China.

The combined installed base of the top 3 power battery makers was 16.8 GWh, accounting for 78.3 percent of the total installed base, the CABIA data showed.

The top 5 and top 10 power cell makers had an installed base of 18.5 GWh and 20.4 GWh respectively, accounting for 86.4 percent and 95.4 percent of the total installed base respectively.

China's power battery production in March was 39.2 GWh, up 247.3 percent year-on-year and up 23.3 percent from February.

Among them, ternary battery production was 15.6 GWh, accounting for 39.7 percent of total production, up 167.3 percent year-on-year and up 33.8 percent from February.

Lithium iron phosphate battery production was 23.6 GWh, accounting for 60.2 percent of total production, up 332.9 percent year-on-year and up 17.6 percent from February.
