Chinese smartphone giant Honor and Li Auto (NASDAQ: LI, HKG: 2015) have entered into a strategic partnership, the two companies announced today.

Li Auto owners can achieve sensorless unlocking using Honor Magic4 series phones with Magic UI 6.0 operating system.

Like the iPhone supporting sensorless unlocking of Tesla vehicles, Li Auto owners simply carry their Honor phones and pull the door handle to unlock the vehicle automatically.

The vehicle starts automatically when the owner presses the brake pedal, and locks automatically when the owner leaves the vehicle.

Li Auto owners can also check the status of the vehicle and control the windows and air conditioning via a card on the phone screen.

The phones currently running Magic UI 6.0 include the Honor Magic 4 series, Magic 3 series, and Honor 50 series.

Li Auto, which is currently only available as the Li ONE, announced on March 23 that it will increase its price by RMB 11,800 to RMB 349,800 from the current RMB 338,000 ($53,090) effective April 1.

Li Auto will officially launch the new SUV L9 on April 16, with a price range of RMB 450,000 - 500,000.

Separately, Li Auto also said today that it has installed more than 100,000 home charging piles.

The first Li Auto home charging stake was installed in Beijing on October 9, 2019. The 100,000th home charging stake was installed in Xi'an on March 19, 2022, according to the company.
