attempts to highlight the model's oceanic aesthetics by showing off the smooth lines of its body.

After regulatory filings earlier this week revealed the exterior and core specifications of the Seal model, BYD (OTCMKTS: BYDDY, HKG: 1211) has released its first teaser video of it, revealing more details.

The video, released on Friday, shows BYD trying to highlight the model's oceanic aesthetics, showing off the smooth lines of its body.

The BYD Seal is based on the company's Ocean-X concept and is seen as the most direct competitor to the Tesla Model 3.

Although the information released by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on Monday has made the BYD Seal's appearance no secret, the video still shows some additional features of the model.

Previous images showed the model with two designs that looked like they were for decoration under the headlights, but this video shows that they are actually headlights as well.

Here is the teaser video released by BYD:

As background, BYD unveiled the concept Ocean-X at the launch of its e-platform 3.0 last September as a prototype for the company's Ocean series sedan, which is smaller in size than the flagship Han model.

The BYD Ocean-X measures 4,800 mm in length, 1,875 mm in width and 1,460 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,920 mm, the MIIT document shows.

For comparison, the BYD Han EV has a length, width and height of 4,980 mm, 1,910 mm and 1,495 mm and a wheelbase of 2,920 mm. The China-made Model 3 has a length, width and height of 4,694 mm, 1,850 mm and 1,443 mm and a wheelbase of 2,875 mm.

The BYD Seal's price range is expected to be RMB 220,000 ($34,710) - 280,000 yuan, and could be unveiled around the Beijing Auto Show in April, local auto media Xchuxing reported late last month.
