This was up 57.2 percent from 6,522 in the same month last year, but down 34 percent from 15,536 in January.

Jianghuai Automobile Group (JAC), 's vehicle manufacturing partner, sold 10,251 pure electric passenger vehicles in February, the company said in figures released Monday.

That's up 57.2 percent from 6,522 a year ago, but down 34 percent from 15,536 in January.

JAC didn't specify, though as is industry practice, its electric vehicle (EVs) sales figures should include Nio vehicles.

Nio delivered 6,131 vehicles in February, up 9.9 percent from a year earlier and down 36.5 percent from 9,652 in January, data released by the company earlier this month showed.

That means JAC's own brand of EVs sold about 4,120 units in February.

Nio suspended production at the Nio-JAC plant during the Chinese New Year holiday from January 31 to February 1, which is usually a slow period for car sales, and adjusted production lines to prepare for ET7 deliveries in March.

JAC's figures show that it sold 35,097 units of all models in February, up 2.5 percent from 34,250 units in the same month last year.

JAC exported 5,789 vehicles in February, up 44 percent from 4,022 units in the same month last year.

It is worth noting that JAC is not only a partner of Nio, but also a partner of Volkswagen in China.

In a research note released at the end of January, CITIC Securities said Volkswagen Anhui, a joint venture between Volkswagen and JAC, will become an important strategic node for the German automaker in China in 3-5 years and is expected to become its third pole of growth in the country.
