BlackRock increased its holdings in by 2,412,164 shares and by 1,851,864 shares, while decreasing its holdings in by 425,701 shares in the fourth quarter.

BlackRock, the world's largest asset manager, increased its position in Nio and Li Auto and slightly decreased its position in Xpeng in the fourth quarter of last year, according to its most recent filing.

As of December 31, 2021, BlackRock held 64,036,975 shares of Nio, valued at about $2 billion, according to its Form 13F disclosure on February 10.

That's up 2,412,164 shares, or 3.9 percent, from 61,624,811 shares at the end of the third quarter.

BlackRock held 28,842,854 shares of Li Auto at the end of the fourth quarter last year, valued at about $926 million. This is an increase of 1,851,864 shares, or 6.9 percent, from 26,990,990 shares at the end of the third quarter.

As of December 31, BlackRock owned 19,595,949 shares of Xpeng worth $986 million, down 425,701 shares or 2 percent from 20,021,650 at the end of the third quarter.

The total market value of BlackRock's holdings reached $3.928 trillion at the end of 2021, up 12 percent from $3.5 trillion in the third quarter.

Shares of Nio, Xpeng, and Li Auto are only a very small part of BlackRock's position, ranking 354th, 613th, and 645th in the position, respectively.

In the fourth quarter of last year, Nio was down 11 percent, Xpeng was up 41 percent, and Li Auto was up 22 percent.

In addition to these three new energy vehicle makers, BlackRock also holds shares of Chinese companies including Alibaba, JD.com, Baidu, Pinduoduo, and Futu, with its position in Alibaba doubling at the end of the fourth quarter compared to the end of the third quarter.
