Han family flagship sedans sold 12,780 units in January, up 5.6 percent year-on-year but down 6.7 percent from 13,701 units in December, according to figures released today by the company.

This is the fifth consecutive month that Han family models have sold more than 10,000 units, with cumulative sales of 170,001 units since their launch in July 2020, data monitored by CnEVPost shows.

The BYD Han family includes the Han EV, an all-electric version with an NEDC range of 605 km, and the Han DM, a hybrid model with a range of only 81 km on pure electric power.

BYD did not announce the breakdown data of these two models in its initial release, only mentioning that Han EV sales in January increased by 8.1 percent year-on-year. Han EV sales figures for January last year are not available.

BYD subsequently announced that Han EV sales in January were 10,050 units, the third consecutive month of over 10,000 units.

This means that the Han DM model sold 2,730 units in January.

In BYD's product array, the vehicles have EV, DM and DM-i versions depending on the form of power.
Where EV stands for pure electric, DM as well as DM-i versions are both hybrid versions, except the latter is more fuel economy oriented.

At the end of last month, China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced the latest batch of new energy vehicle (NEV) model catalogs exempted from vehicle purchase tax, which includes the new BYD Han EV.

The declaration shows that the new BYD Han EV has a maximum range of 715 km, up from 605 km in the current model. There is also a 610km range model with the same 85.44 KWh battery pack as the 715km version.

The 610km range version is equipped with dual front and rear motors, with a maximum power of 180kW and 200kW respectively and peak torque of 350Nm.

The 715km range version is equipped with a single motor at the front, with a maximum power of 180kW and peak torque of 350Nm.
