As one of the first new car makers to be established in China, Nio seems to have passed the stage of setting up car sales subsidiaries one after another. Now, however, the company is on the move again.

A company called Zhongshan Weiran Automobile Sales & Service Co in Zhongshan City, Guangdong Province in southern China, was established on November 25, according to data provider Tianyancha.

It has a registered capital of 5 million yuan ($780,000) and operates in the areas of car sales, charging pile sales, software sales, software development and used car sales.

Zhongshan Weiran is 100 percent owned by Nio Auto Sales & Service Co. The latter currently holds 100 percent of 54 sales companies, Tianyancha's information shows.

"As we broaden our user base and enter global new markets, we are determined to further expand our sales and service network and expedite the swapping and charging infrastructure deployment to better reach and serve more users worldwide," Steven Feng, Nio's chief financial officer, said in the company's third-quarter earnings report released earlier this month.
