Xpeng Motors today announced that it has entered into a strategic partnership with Qualcomm and signed a Memorandum of Understanding for strategic cooperation.

Under the agreement, the two companies will drive the adoption of the Snapdragon automotive digital cockpit platform across the Xpeng model line.

Both parties will continue to invest to advance the adoption of future generations of the Snapdragon Automotive Cockpit platform in subsequent Xpeng models.

It is worth noting that Xpeng has been communicating and collaborating with Qualcomm on the automotive digital cockpit since 2017.

In April and July 2020, the Xpeng G3 and P7 models adopted the Snapdragon automotive cockpit platform, and in September 2021, the Xpeng P5 with the 3rd generation Snapdragon Automotive Cockpit platform was launched.

As of October 2021, cumulative sales of Xpeng vehicles with the Snapdragon Automotive Cockpit platform have exceeded 100,000 units.

Earlier this week, Qualcomm unveiled its automotive strategy panorama, saying it has partnered with more than 25 car companies and has reached 200 million connected vehicles using its solutions.

In fiscal 2021, Qualcomm's automotive business generated $970 million in revenue, accounting for less than 4 percent of Qualcomm's total revenue, but its growth has outpaced that of its cell phone business.

Qualcomm expects annual automotive business revenue to reach $8 billion in 10 years.
