The main building of Nio's second plant at NeoPark in Hefei, Anhui province, has been completed and accepted, a new report shows.

According to the China Infrastructure News on Wednesday, the main structures of the punching and welding plant, painting workshop and final assembly workshop of the first phase of NeoPark, which was constructed by Shanghai Baoye Group, have passed the acceptance inspection on October 29.

The report did not mention Nio, but the second plant of the EV maker is the first project of NeoPark, which is being built by Shanghai Baoye.

Shanghai Baoye is currently putting 3,000 workers on the project, according to information released by the Hefei city government late last month.

"This is a key project for the province and the city, and we have gone all out and fast to set the fastest construction pace," said Qu Wei, the project's director.

The report by the China Infrastructure News said that the project's builder, supervisor, designer and constructor reviewed the construction quality and process information at the site and unanimously agreed to pass the acceptance.

The project started on April 29 and the main steel structure was completed on August 26, the report said.

According to a report by local Hefei News Channel on October 13, the factory will have a total construction area of 437,000 square meters and can achieve an annual production capacity of 300,000 vehicles and an annual output value of RMB 100 billion when it reaches production.

The engineering department of the project is expected to hand over the completed plant to Nio for installation of equipment by the end of November, and the plant will be officially put into operation in September next year, the report said.

On April 29 this year, the Hefei municipal government and Nio jointly announced the official start of the construction of NeoPark.

The park covers an area of 16,950 mu (11.3 square kilometers) and is expected to have an annual capacity of 1 million vehicles and 100 GWh of batteries, with an upfront investment of RMB 50 billion.
