An executive says the company is actively communicating with local authorities and has pledged to invest more in the area.

The demolition of one of Nio's battery swap stations has attracted a lot of attention from Nio owners and Internet users. After a short response, an Nio executive gave a further reply.

An Nio battery swap station in Kaifeng was nearly demolished because of an information gap between it and the local city administration, Ma Lin, the company's senior director of corporate communications, said on Weibo Wednesday evening.

After an initial explanation of the battery swap facility by Nio employees, the two sides decided to actively communicate and discuss the construction and operation of the design, Ma said.

Kaifeng's city management (Chengguan) tried to demolish a local Nio battery swap station on Wednesday morning, with a video showing one of the facility's exterior walls being torn down.

The battery swap station, located in Kaifeng's Kaiyuan Square, was put into operation on September 25 and was the first of its kind in the region. The move by local authorities has created a buzz among Nio owners and is the first time we have seen the facility face forced demolition.

In response to a large number of questions from users, Nio's user service account said in the Nio App that "the company was informed of the incident at the first time and is responding appropriately. It is not surprising that new things have some hiccups in the development process, and we believe it will be solved soon."

In his latest response, Ma also tried to reassure local Nio owners and potential consumers, vowing to increase the company's investment in the region.

"Nio currently has 22 battery swap stations in Henan, as well as 30 charging stations. Next, Nio plans to further increase its investment in Henan, including Kaifeng," Ma said.

"With the planning and coordination of Henan provincial governments at all levels, Nio will build more charging and swapping facilities in the region to enhance the daily travel experience of all EV users, including Nio customers, and help Henan province reach its goal of building 2,000 centralized charging and swapping facilities by 2025," he added.
