Xpeng has received an AA rating from MSCI ESG Research for the second consecutive year in 2021, the highest MSCI ESG rating of any global automotive company.
Xpeng Motors released its first Environmental, Social and Governance Report (ESG Report) on Friday, detailing the company's ESG performance.
Xpeng's electric vehicles reduce approximately 5,520 tons of CO2 in 2020 compared to internal combustion engine vehicles, according to the report.
As of May 2021, the company achieved 100 percent recycling and reuse of recyclable solid waste.
As of March 31, 2021, Xpeng has accumulated 759 patents and 504 trademarks.
Xpeng P7 became the first vehicle to receive a 5-star rating on the Chinese i-VISTA smart car test platform, and the G3 and P7 scored 92.2 percent and 89.4 percent in the C-NCAP Crash and Safety Test, respectively, according to the report.
In 2020, Xpeng reported no work-related fatalities or lost time due to workplace injuries.

By comparison, peer benchmarking by MSCI ESG shows Tesla, BYD, and Daimler AG all with A ratings, Toyota with BBB, and VW with B.
MSCI ESG Research gave Xpeng scores of 10 and 9.1 in Product Carbon Footprint and Opportunities in Clean Tech, two of the most key contributors to ESG ratings.
This compares to the industry's average scores of 7 and 5.5 in these two categories, respectively.
As part of its commitment to ESG, Xpeng has crafted a so-called X-SEG (Smart, Efficient and Green) concept to guide the construction and operation of its plants and to underpin key aspects of its business operations.
