BAIC BluePark has had a glorious past, but business conditions have continued to deteriorate in recent years.

BAIC BluePark, the new energy vehicle brand of BAIC, said Thursday that its subsidiary Beijing Electric Vehicle (BJEV) sold 2,450 units in September.

That was up 9 percent from 2,245 units a year ago and down about 40 percent from 4,074 units in August.

From January to September, Beijing Electric Vehicle sold 16,974 units, down about 20 percent from a year earlier.

As the number one local Chinese new energy vehicle brand in terms of sales, BAIC BluePark had a glorious past.

It was the No. 1 seller of pure electric vehicles in China for seven consecutive years from 2013-2019, with 2017 sales even surpassing as the global top seller of pure electric vehicles.

However, BAIC BluePark's business situation has continued to deteriorate in recent years. it sold 150,600 units in 2019 and plummeted to 25,914 units in 2020.

BAIC BluePark's operating revenue for the first half of the year was RMB 2.437 billion, down 21.69 percent year-on-year.

It reported a net loss of RMB 1.813 billion in the first half, narrowing 2.68 percent from a net loss of RMB 1.863 billion in the same period last year.
