has abundant charging resources in China's top-tier cities, and now the company appears to be accelerating the construction of Superchargers in less economically developed areas.

The company announced Thursday that its Supercharger network already covers all 16 cities in eastern China's Shandong province, with 37 Supercharger stations offering 261 Superchargers.

Tesla has provided more than 50,000 cumulative charging sessions to customers in the province and accumulated more than 10 million kilometers of charging, the company said.

Shandong has a total population of 101.5 million, accounting for 7.19 percent of the country's population, second only to Guangdong Province with 126 million people, according to data from China's seventh national census released in May.

Shandong's GDP in 2020 was RMB 7.31 trillion, lower than Guangdong's RMB 11 trillion.

The number of Tesla's Supercharger stations in the Chinese mainland now exceeds 900 with more than 7,000 Superchargers, covering over 330 cities, according to the company.

Tesla's Supercharger production facility in China was officially completed on August 20, according to Beijing News on Tuesday. This means that Tesla's charging facility construction in China is expected to be on the fast track.

The commissioning period for the facility will run from August 21 to September 25, with an expected acceptance period of September 26 to October 30, according to the report.

The project officially started on January 20 this year, with a construction area of nearly 10,000 square meters and an annual production capacity of 10,000 supercharging piles, the report said.

According to information previously announced by Tesla, the project is producing its third generation of superchargers with a maximum charging power of 250KW.
