China's auto exports hit a record high of 174,000 units in July, with new energy vehicles contributing 31.5 percent, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers said Tuesday.

China exported 140,000 passenger cars in July, up 16.8 percent from the previous month and 2.1 times higher year-over-year.

From January to July, China exported 770,000 passenger cars, up 1.3 times year-over-year.

China's commercial vehicle exports in July were 34,000 units, down 11.6 percent from the previous month and up 94.6 percent year-over-year.

From January to July, 232,000 units of commercial vehicles were exported, up 1.0 times year-over-year.

China's January-July auto exports rose 102.5 percent year-over-year, a record high growth rate for the same period, pulling up China's export growth by 0.6 percentage points, the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) said last Tuesday.

Separately, the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) said last Tuesday that China exported 128,000 passenger cars in July, up 212 percent year-over-year, with new energy vehicles accounting for 20 percent of total exports.

Among them, exports of local brands reached 90,000 units, up 160 percent year-over-year, and exports of Chinese and foreign joint venture brands 17,000 units, up 120 percent year-over-year, the CPCA data showed.
