SAIC Group, China's largest local automaker, and smartphone giant OPPO signed a cooperation agreement on August 5, aiming to bring the cell phone experience into the car.

The two sides will jointly promote the deployment of in-vehicle user interaction applications in vehicles, conduct joint research and development in areas related to intelligent cockpits, and jointly explore cooperation models and business models to enhance user experience, according to an announcement.

The two sides will also jointly explore research and applications in SOA application services, in-vehicle user interaction, and other areas to jointly build the future intelligent car ecology.

SOA stands for Service-Oriented Architecture and was released by SAIC on April 9 this year.

It is an operation platform built for developers with the logic of "service for users", which can be simply understood as an APP Store for cars.

SAIC and OPPO will cooperate in SOA application service ecology to create a multi-scene cross-device application service, according to the latest announcement.

According to the agreement, the OPPO application service framework will be introduced into the car, and the OPPO application service developer platform and SAIC SOA developer platform will be integrated.

Starting from the end of this year, the relevant results will appear one after another in SAIC's own brand as well as joint venture brand products, SAIC said.

Notably, media reports in late April said OPPO has been preparing for car-making matters, and like , OPPO's promoter of the plan is founder Chen Mingyong.

OPPO has more than 3,000 patents in-car networking-related fields, involving car communication, video and image processing, and in-car charging.
