EHang Holdings Limited announced on July 26 that its new Automated Aerial Vehicle (AAV) production facility in Yunfu, Guangdong, southern China, went into operation at the end of June as planned.

This represents a further upgrade in EHang's production capacity, the company said.

With a total planned floor area of approximately 24,000 square meters, the site is equipped with a range of functional areas covering the entire production process from component manufacturing to aircraft assembly, and also includes an R&D training center.

The site will be the first large-scale production base for commercial AAV, the company previously said.

It will focus on manufacturing EHang's flagship manned AAV, the EH216 series, with an estimated initial annual capacity of 600 aircraft and the ability to expand to meet growing global demand, the company said earlier this year.

On July 13, EHang completed the technical inspection of the EH216F (firefighting version) AAV, demonstrating the EHang AAV's ability to be used commercially in real-world scenarios such as aerial firefighting and emergency rescue.

The company will host an investor tour open day at the base on August 18, 2021.

The existing production base at EHang's headquarters in Guangzhou covers a total area of 8,750 square meters and is fully equipped with the AAV's production facilities.

Once the new production site is operational, the primary function of the Guangzhou site will gradually shift to supporting the company's new product development efforts.
