A new Nio battery swap station went into operation on July 26, bringing the total to 321. The facility is located in Changsha, Hunan Province.
It is Nio's fifth second-generation battery swap station in Hunan and the company's 13th battery swap station in the province, located in the Meixi Lake Junda Building.
Nio's second-generation battery swap station can accommodate 13 batteries and provide up to 312 services per day. Cars can be parked automatically and the battery swap can be completed within 3-5 minutes if there is no queue.
In addition, Nio has 9 supercharging stations and 9 destination charging stations in Hunan province, with access to 12,002 third-party charging posts.
As of July 26, Nio has 316 battery swap stations and 217 supercharging stations in China, providing 1,651 supercharging piles. It also has 397 destination charging stations and access to more than 380,000 third-party charging piles.
Nio originally planned to have 500 battery swap stations in China by the end of this year, but at the inaugural Nio Power Day event on July 9, the company's co-founder and president, Qin Lihong, announced that the goal had been raised to 700.
On July 9, Nio said that only 29 percent of customers currently have a battery swap station within a 3-kilometer radius, which is unsatisfactory.
By 2025, Nio hopes to have 90 percent of customers within a 3 km radius of a battery swap station.
