Motors has started the survey work for the car production base located in the Tonghang Industrial Park in the Hannan District of the central Chinese city of Wuhan, according to a recent report posted on 163.com.

Survey of construction projects refers to the activities of surveying, mapping, exploring and testing topography and geological conditions and providing corresponding results and information to meet the needs of planning, design, construction and operation of engineering construction.

Xpeng and Wuhan Economic Development Zone signed an agreement on April 8 to build its manufacturing base and R&D center here.

The project covers an area of approximately 73.3 hectares with an estimated total investment of RMB 10 billion ($1.5billion).

Xpeng will build a vehicle and powertrain plant and R&D center here and expects to start production in 2023 with a planned annual capacity of 100,000 vehicles.

Earlier this month, a WeChat account owned by Hubei Daily reported that the site for Xpeng's production base in Wuhan was decided in late June, when it bought an industrial site in Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone for RMB 212.51 million yuan ($32.9million).

The site is located east of Sanjiang Road and south of Happiness Garden Road on Shamao Street in Wuhan, adjacent to the Geely Luster Wuhan plant, according to the report.
