Chen Xuewen, a top global expert in artificial intelligence and former Didi Chuxing executive, recently joined GAC Group, the company announced Tuesday.

Chen head the GAC Research Institute and is responsible for artificial intelligence including autonomous driving, intelligent cockpits and automotive big data.

Chen has more than 20 years of experience in artificial intelligence research and applications and big data analytics.

Chen graduated from Sichuan University with a master's degree in 1992 and stayed there as a teacher, and went to the US to study in 1996 and received his PhD. at Carnegie Mellon University. Since 2003, he has taught at the Department of Computer Science at Wayne State University and the University of Kansas, where he received tenure.

Since returning to China in 2016, Chen has been involved in the automotive industry, serving as Vice President and Senior Technical Director of Didi Chuxing Science and Technology Institute.

During his tenure at Didi Chuxing, Chen led a team to conduct research and development of new algorithms and technologies in the field of big data-driven general artificial intelligence, such as the development of big data-based artificial intelligence technologies for applications in intelligent transportation, travel domain and finance.

In recent years, GAC Research Institute has launched products including Trumpchi GS4, GS8, M6, M8 and Aion S, Aion LX and Aion Y.

It has also mastered key core technologies including the GPMA GAC Global Platform Modular Architecture, the GEP Pure Electric Exclusive Platform and the ADiGO Smart Drive Connected Ecosystem.
