Jianghuai Automobile Group Co (JAC), 's auto manufacturing partner, sold 11,653 pure electric passenger cars in June, up 165.20 percent from a year earlier, data released by the company showed on Wednesday.

In June, JAC sold 41,111 units of all vehicles, down 0.7 percent from a year earlier.

Its cumulative sales from January to June were 284,986 units, up 36.12 percent from the same period last year.

JAC's pure electric passenger car sales from January to June were 55,611 units, up 225.13 percent year-over-year.

Unlike Nio's high-end positioning, JAC's models are positioned at the entry-level and are less expensive. Its significant increase in June sales is attributed to the recent launch of new vehicles.

Its next-generation smart pure electric SUV, the SOL E40X, was officially launched on May 16 with an official guide price of RMB 130,000-155,900 ($20,338-24,390) after subsidies.

In comparison, the average selling price of Nio vehicles is over RMB 430,000 ($66,500).

Nio delivered 8,083 vehicles in June, a record high in its history, up 116.10 percent year-over-year and 20.4 percent from the previous month.

Nio delivered 21,896 units in the second quarter, up 111.9 percent year-over-year, for five consecutive quarters of positive growth. Nio delivered 41,956 units in the first half of the year, reaching 95.9 percent of last year's full-year deliveries.
