As China's new energy vehicle market is growing rapidly, traditional car giant Volkswagen is underperforming. Now the company has added a new member to its lineup in hopes of gaining more market share.

FAW-Volkswagen has announced pricing and started accepting pre-orders for the ID.6 CROZZ at a combined subsidized price of RMB 239,800 ($37,000) - 334,800.

The ID.6 CROZZ offers a choice of five models with ranges including 439 km, 516 km and 565 km.

The car is positioned as a mid-size SUV and is built on the MEB modular platform with E3 electrical architecture and a 6- and 7-seat layout.

The ID.6 inherits the family design of the VW ID with a closed grille. Unlike other brands' electric vehicles that commonly use hidden handles, the ID.6 uses semi-hidden door handles.

It uses a freestanding LCD instrument panel equipped with a suspended center screen, and the gearshift mechanism is also under the steering wheel, similar to and Mercedes-Benz.

The length, width and height of the ID.6 CROZZ are 4891/1848/1679mm, and the wheelbase reaches 2,965mm, an increase of 200mm compared to the ID.4.

The ID.6 CROZZ comes standard with ACC 3.0 advanced adaptive cruise control, IQ.Light intelligent matrix headlights, Lane Assist lane keeping, 12-inch touch screen navigation, wireless charging, keyless entry and other features.

The ID.6 CROZZ comes with 6 airbags as standard across the lineup, a battery and high-voltage system that meets VW's internal L4 electrical safety requirements, and an IPX 9K waterproof rating.

The ID.6 CROZZ is claimed to have carried out 197 safety tests on the battery pack to ensure good safety performance of the battery even under extreme conditions.

Developed on the MEB pure electric platform, the ID.6 CROZZ is available in a rear-mounted, rear-drive 150kW standard range version and a 180kW long range version, as well as a 225kW dual-motor 4WD version.

Its 84.8kwh battery pack has an NEDC range of 565km for the 2WD model.
