Chinese tech giant Huawei will start selling the second model, the Seres SF7 from Chongqing Sokon, in the second half of the year, possibly as early as August, the WeChat account iAUTO2010, which follows the auto industry, reported Monday.

The Seres SF7 is a mid-size seven-seat SUV with a higher market positioning and price than the Seres SF5 currently on sale, according to the report.

The Seres SF7 concept version, which first debuted in 2018, features a front design very similar to the SF5 and a coupe-like body design.

Pang Hai, Chongqing Sokon's vice president and general manager of sales, revealed in 2020 that Seres plans to launch no less than seven new models by 2021.

Although there is no more official information about the new vehicles so far, it is highly likely that the Seres SF7 will be included in the channel, iAUTO2010 said.

Huawei Managing Director and Consumer Business CEO Richard Yu announced at the end of April that he would start selling cars in his flagship store, with the first model being the Seres SF5 from Chongqing Sokon.

The Seres SF5 is a hybrid car with extended-range technology similar to 's Li ONE. It is available in two versions, with the 4WD version priced at RMB 246,800 ($38,000) and the 2WD version priced at RMB 216,800.

Huawei offers its own HUAWEI DriveONE electric drive system, HUAWEI HiCar and HUAWEI Sound for the 4WD version of the model.

The two-wheel-drive version of the model is equipped with Seres' electric drive system, but it is also available with HUAWEI HiCar and HUAWEI Sound.

Orders for the model exceeded 3,000 units within two days of opening for sale on the Huawei channel, and 6,000 units in the first week.

Huawei previously said that it will use the more than 5,000 Huawei experience stores nationwide and will take advantage of the offline channel's storefront as much as possible.

The Seres SF5 will enter Huawei's 200 retail stores by the end of July and will expand to 1,000 by the end of the year, Yu revealed.

In addition to Shanghai, the model will also be stationed in Shenzhen, Chengdu, Hangzhou and other places. At the same time, Seres has also started to develop its after-sales service network in full force, recruiting dealers on a large scale.
