BYD, the Chinese new energy vehicle manufacturer backed by US billionaire Warren Buffett, announced on Tuesday that its new all-electric EA1 car is officially named "Dolphin".

The new car, previously unveiled at the 2020 Shanghai Auto Show, is based on 's e-Platform 3.0.

The new car adopts the new design concept of "Ocean Aesthetics", and the overall body shape is very rounded.

It has a smoked black front panel with "U" shaped chrome trim, which cleverly connects the two sides of the LED headlights together.

BYD Dolphin is equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous motor with a maximum power of 70 kilowatts, a maximum speed of 150km/h, and a lithium iron phosphate battery pack.

The car's length, width and height are 4070 (4125)/1770/1570mm, with a wheelbase of 2700mm.

As seen in the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) filing, the car is available in a variety of colors, and the rearview mirror, roof, and front and rear bumper trim are freely configurable.

BYD's e-Platform 3.0 features four major domain controllers under a new electrical and electronic architecture and BYD OS, a self-developed automotive operating system.

Based on this electrical and electronic architecture and BYD OS, electric vehicles will be able to have more powerful autonomous driving capabilities. Meanwhile, the iteration speed of new functions can be shortened from two months to two weeks, shortening the function iteration cycle by more than 70 percent.

The EV with e-Platform 3.0 can accelerate from zero to 100km as fast as 2.9s and has a maximum combined range of over 1000km.

The car has 800V flash charging technology, charging 5 minutes, driving 150km. 100km electricity consumption is 10 percent lower than the same class, and the winter range is at least 10 percent higher.

In addition, BYD Dolphin is also the first model to adopt BYD's family-style new word mark design.
