Warren Buffett-backed Chinese electric car company sold 25,662 new energy vehicles in April, up 6% from March and up 97% year-on-year.

BYD's cumulative new energy vehicle sales from January to April were 80,413 units, an increase of 128.53%% year-on-year, according to a company filing.

The company sold 25,034 new energy passenger vehicles in April, up 104% from 12,262 units in the same month last year.

Among them, 16,114 pure electric vehicles were sold, up 62% from 9,966 units in the same month last year. Sales of plug-in hybrid vehicles increased 289% to 8,920 units compared with 2,296 units in the same month last year.

BYD's total installed capacity of new energy vehicle power batteries and energy storage batteries in April was 2.17 GWh, and the total cumulative installed capacity for the year was 7.428 GWh.

BYD sold a total of 45,234 vehicles in April, up 42% from 31,809 vehicles in the same month last year.

BYD sold 149,379 vehicles from January to April, an increase of 60.48% year-on-year.
