Huawei has partnered with three car companies to create three sub-brands, and smart cars with its sub-brand " Inside" logo will start rolling out in the fourth quarter of this year, the Chinese tech giant said Monday.

On April 12, Huawei held a global analyst conference. Xu Zhijun, vice chairman and rotating chairman of Huawei, explained Huawei's overall strategy at the conference.

Xu said Huawei announced its decision not to build cars itself at a conference in Sanya in 2018, and that Huawei would help car companies build better cars, a decision that has not changed until now.

"Previously, Huawei has communicated with a number of car companies that the industry does not need Huawei brand cars and needs Huawei ICT capabilities."

"Although we do not build cars ourselves, Huawei also wants to cooperate with car companies to create some good business models," Xu said, adding that "we will choose to partner for deep cooperation and help car companies through the Huawei Inside approach."

Huawei will strongly invest in self-driving software to drive the convergence of the automotive and ICT industries, bringing long-term strategic growth opportunities for Huawei, according to Xu.

He mentioned that Huawei will increase its investment in autonomous driving to promote the intelligence of the automotive industry, bringing long-term strategic opportunities for Huawei, and the most disruptive industry in the future will be in the automotive industry.
